WSDCA Mini Dwarf Rules 2005
The following are common sense type rules. Our objective is to minimize rule changes. There will be no exotic equipment (meaning unusual or out of the ordinary). The rules and or regulations set forth herin are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of the racing events and to establish a minimum acceptable requirement for the events. No express or implied warranty of safety shall result from publication of or compliance with these rules and or regulations. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to participants. We recommend contacting your track or mini dwarf representative for any rule clarifications. Track rules may override or exceed these rules.
If it doesnt say it in these rules, you cant do it.
Car Body:
The car body will be a 1928-1948 vintage coupe, sedan, sedan delivery or wagon or truck. The entire body of the car shall be made of steel or aluminum. All cars must have driver protection bars built into the frame. All cars must be fabricated so driver may exit through a roof hatch or a driver door that opens and provides quick and safe entrance or exit from the car by the driver. Body panels must cover the sides of the car in the leg and foot area to prevent intrusion.
Maximum height of car body from the lower frame rail is 33",maximum width of car body is 27.5"
Wheel Base:
Minimum 57.5" maximum 58.5" measured from the front to the rear axle center point.
Maximum width is 42" with a maximum 1/2" offset
Car Weight:
Minimum weight without driver is 250 lbs.
Ground Clearance:
Minimum of 2 at bottom of seat and 4 at frame rails.
Tires and wheels:
Wheels-6" in front, 8" in rear standard offset, left and right wheels may be steel or aluminum. Tires will be as follows:
Front- 15 x 600 x 6 turf tread
Rear- 16 x 6.5 x 8 turf tread.
No racing compound of any kind. No bead lock wheels.
Clutch:
1 dry centrifgul type clutch, chain driven. No multi-disc or exotic type clutches.No adjustable or exotic type clutches allowed.
Brakes:
One brake on rear axle only. Disc or drum style, foot brake only. Rotor can be drilled.
Throttle:
All cars must have a positive return spring at the carburetor or the foot pedal. Throttle must always fully close. Must be operated by a foot pedal only.
Drive Sprockets:
Any steel or aluminum split or solid rear drive sprockets. No jack shafts. Chain must run from clutch to rear axle. No torque converters. No belt drive systems. Chain guards are required at the engine.
Engines:
All cars are restricted to one rear mounted engine, 5 or 5.5 horsepower, maximum. Currently Briggs and Stratton, Tecumseh power sport or Powertrain engines are legal. Any other engines must be approved. Engines must remain stock with no modifications with the exception of the exhaust system, the carburetor and air cleaner. All engines must be carbureted. No fuel injection or pressurized fuel systems.
Fuel:
Pump gas, aviation fuel or racing gas only. No fuel enhancers allowed. No nitrous oxide or alcohol allowed.
Suspension:
One or two spring suspension only. One solid front axle. No shocks are allowed. No independent front suspension of any kind. Weight jacks are permitted. There is no rear suspension. Rear axle must be solidly attached to the rear frame rails.
Bumpers and Nerfs:
There will be no sharp points or edges
Rear bumper 35 wide, 6 high, 5 above the ground, measured at the center of the bumper. Front bumper 23 wide, 6 high and a minimum of 5 above the ground.
Nerf bars must be mounted on both sides in front of rear tires and behind the front tires. A minimum of 3 point mounting is required. The lower bar must be parallel to the lower frame rail, in front of the rear tires, then curve or bend toward lower frame rail, attaching behind the front tires. The upper bar must be attached to the roll cage.
Safety:
All cars must have an approved 5 point racing harness, 2 wide minimum, with a quick release buckle. Belts must be attached to the frame or cage with not less than 3/8 grade A bolts. All seatbelts will be installed at a 45 degree angle to the drivers hips, shoulder harnesses come from behind the driver and will go over both shoulders so that they will be held securely in seat (all safety restraint harnesses shall be installed in accordance with manufactures guidelines). All cars must be equipped with a high backed approved racing seat.
Helmets must be approved, full face, racing type helmet and must be worn at all times with visors in the down position. (Most tracks are requiring Current SA safety rated helmets).
Neck collars are mandatory equipment and must be worn at all times.
All drivers will wear an approved type driving suit and gloves. Drivers must wear closed toe shoes with racing shoes recommended.
Arm restraints are highly recommended (some tracks they may be required)
Numbers:
All cars must have a minimum of three numbers located one on each door and one on the roof. Numbers must be a minimum of 8 high and 1½ high. Keep in mind the larger the number the less chance you have of being mis-scored.
